FACULTY OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

1. History

In July, 1984, the Faculty of Library was established in the HCMU; and in 1990, it was renamed the Faculty of Library and Information Science. In 1994, the departments of Library, Bibliography, and Information Science were founded.

2. Teaching staff and officials

At present, the official teaching staff are mainly masters and doctors trained locally and internationally. In addition, many experienced experts from various institutions in library and information science are visiting lecturers.

3. Training and research activities

    Target of undergraduate training

To train bachelor students with fundamental knowledge in library and information science and with basic skills to do research, to teach or to work in various kinds of libraries, information centers and other organizations.

   Target of postgraduate training

To train experts in library and information science at the level of career reasoning, management, and apply modern technology in library and information activities.

  Achievements in science research

The faculty has held four science conferences at faculty level, completed two research projects at university level, and published many textbooks and reference books.

4. Cooperation

The faculty has built close relationships with training foundations throughout the country, supported students on practicum or in search jobs, helped teaching staff apply theory to reality and conducted research.

The faculty has set up cooperation with foreign experts and institutes, attended international science conferences held in Vietnam and sent teaching staff members abroad for their studies.
